Prerequisites for Oracle verified data
The prerequisites for the Oracle verified data tab in the Oracle section of SAM Core on Snow Atlas are described here.
Some Snow products must be locally installed for the required data to be detected and collected. To access the Oracle verified data tab, your Snow Atlas user role must have a specific permission enabled.
Required Snow product installations
To accurately detect the data, the following Snow products must be installed in the following environments:
Snow products | Environments |
---|---|
| All environments containing Oracle Database product installations, and any of the following environments, depending on the virtualization technology used:

Permission requirements for the Oracle verified data tab
To access the Oracle verified data tab in SAM Core, your Snow Atlas user role must have the View and manage OVS information permission enabled. The permission is enabled by default for the Administrator role. For more information on roles in Snow Atlas, see Roles.
Note that the E-Business Suite product category is excluded from the permission by default. To enable a user to view and manage E-Business Suite data, contact Snow Support.
Overview of the process
In short, the process of setting up and using the Oracle verified data solution is as follows:
-
Installing the infrastructure
The required infrastructure specified above must be installed and configured.
For more information on how to install and configure the required Snow products, see:
Note that there are two alternative ways of distributing the Snow Inventory Oracle Scanners, see Distribute the Snow Inventory Oracle Scanners.
-
Data gathering
-
Each time the agents perform their regular scan, as part of the Oracle scanners execution, a set of scripts is run, gathering data about basic hardware information for the inventoried computers and the software information for the product installations.
-
The VMware vSphere Connector gathers data about the VMware infrastructure according to the connector configuration.
-
-
Data processing
The data is processed and made available on the Oracle verified data tab in the Applications > Oracle section in SAM Core.
-
Downloading Oracle verified data
Via the Oracle verified data tab, you can export Oracle verified data for the entire estate or for a selection. The final output is a ZIP file with the following content:
-
Software data output files:
-
Database related files
-
Middleware files
-
Java report
-
E-Business Suite related files
-
-
Hardware data output in TXT files.
-
VMware (vCenter) related data output in two CSV files (per vCenter).
noteIf the file contains data from both the Databases and Fusion Middleware product categories, the hardware data output is included in both the SW and HW folders of the file.
-
Distribute the Snow Inventory Oracle Scanners
Distribute the Snow Inventory Oracle Scanner, Snow Inventory Oracle Middleware Scanner, Snow Inventory Oracle Hardware Scanner, and Snow Inventory Java Scanner in one of the following ways:
-
Manually replace the required artifacts in the agent’s folder. You can download them via https://community.snowsoftware.com/s/downloads.
-
Use an agent installation package in which you have included the required artifacts. For more information, see Install the agent - Windows, Install the agent - Linux, and Install the agent - Unix respectively.
The following artifacts are required for the respective scanner:
Snow Inventory Oracle Scanner
- sios.jar, version 7.0 or later (for E-Business Suite verified solution, version 8.4 or later is required)
Snow Inventory Oracle Middleware Scanner
-
sioms.jar, version 3.0 or later
-
Scan-SIOMSLauncher.snow-ps1, version 1.3.1 (for Windows only)
Snow Inventory Oracle Hardware Scanner
-
siohws.jar, version 1.0 or later
-
Scan-SIOHWSLauncher.snow-ps1, version 1.0 (for Windows only)
Snow Inventory Java Scanner
-
sijs.jar, version 3.2 or later
-
Scan-SIJSLauncher, version 1.0.1 (for Windows only)
If the Oracle scan is not already enabled, enable it by configuring the Oracle element in the agent configuration file, snowagent.config
. For more information, see Agent configuration file.
