Manage application allowlist

Learn how to manage the application allowlist in SAM Core on Snow Atlas.

Enable the application allowlist

You enable the application allowlist functionality in Snow Atlas.

  1. In Snow Atlas, select Settings.
  2. Select License Management.
  3. Select Enable allowlist for applications.
  4. Select Save.

View applications on the allowlist

  1. On the SAM Core menu, under Home, select Administration.
  2. Select Application allowlist.
  3. Select the Applications (result) tab.

Add applications to the allowlist

  1. On the SAM Core menu, select Applications.
  2. Select the name of the application you want to add to the allowlist.
  3. On the details page of the application, select the three dots in the upper-right corner of the page, and then select Allowlist application.
  4. Select OK to confirm.
    The information message Allowlisted appears on the details page of the application.

Remove applications from the allowlist

  1. On the SAM Core menu, under Home, select Administration.
  2. Select Application allowlist.
  3. On the Criteria tab and in the table row of the application you want to remove, select Delete.
  4. Select OK to confirm.

Add criteria for the application allowlist

You can specify criteria to automatically identify applications and add them to the allowlist. For field descriptions, see Application allowlist: Reference.

  1. On the SAM Core menu, under Home, select Administration.
  2. Select Application allowlist.
  3. On the Criteria tab, select Add criteria.
  4. Select Criteria type from the list.
  5. Enter the Criteria. Use % as a wildcard character to include several applications with common names or types.

  6. Select Save.

Remove criteria for the application allowlist

  1. On the SAM Core menu, under Home, select Administration.
  2. Select Application allowlist.
  3. On the Criteria tab and in the table row of the criteria you want to remove, select Delete.
  4. Select OK to confirm.

Add automation rules for the application allowlist

You can use a number of predefined rules to automatically identify applications and add them to the allowlist. For field descriptions, see Application allowlist: Reference.

  1. On the SAM Core menu, under Home, select Administration.
  2. Select Application allowlist.
  3. On the Criteria tab and in the Allowlist automation rules section, select Edit.
  4. Select the rules you want to use.
  5. For the rules based on installations and users, enter the quantities valid for your IT environment.
  6. Select Apply rules.
