Software Asset Management

Software Asset Management, or SAM, is defined by ISO as "effective management, control, and protection of software assets within an organization".

A global SAM owner is an individual at a central organization wide level who is in charge of Software Asset Management. A local SAM owner is an individual in charge of SAM for a defined node or section of an organization. Local SAM owners are sub-ordinated to the global SAM owner.
