Application families: Reference

Refer to the tables below for field descriptions when you want to view the details of a specific application family in SAM Core on Snow Atlas.

The application family page consists of:

  • chart showing the number of installations per application and the percentage of how many consumers are covered by a license.

    The chart shows information for up to five applications with the latest versions and editions and summarized information for the older versions and editions. Only applications being installed and requiring a license are shown in the chart. To show more information on the coverage of an application, point to the bar in the chart.

  • Summary of licensing information for the application family.

  • Detailed information about the application. The information is organized in tabs; Licenses, Applications, Computers, Users, and Processor/Core summary.

Summary

The Summary shows licensing information for the application family.

ParameterDescription
Total license costThe total license cost for all applications within the application family.
ComplianceThe number of covered consumers compared to the total number of consumers. Compliance is calculated regardless of metric. The value is shown in percentage.
RiskThe total cost for being non-compliant for all applications within the application family.
Unused installationsThe number of assigned licenses with no registered usage compared to the total number of licenses. The value is shown in percentage.
Risk (Unused installations)The cost for unused installations.
Non-utilized licensesThe number of non-utilized, unassigned, and incorrectly assigned licenses compared to the total number of purchased licenses. The value is shown in percentage.
Potential overspendThe cost of all non-utilized, unassigned, and incorrectly assigned licenses.

Licenses

The Licenses tab shows information on the licenses purchased for the applications within the application family.

Field labelDescription
Application nameThe name of the application.
MetricThe metric for the licenses.
Purchase dateThe date when the licenses for the application were purchased.
LicensesThe number of licenses purchased.
Active upgrade rightsShows if the licenses have active upgrade rights or not.

Applications

The Applications tab shows information on the applications within the application family.

Field labelDescription
NameThe name of the application.
PlatformThe platform the application is installed on.
MetricThe default metric for the application.
Alternative MetricsThe alternative metrics for the application, if any.
InstallationsThe number of installations of the application.
Installations (VM)The number of installations of the application on virtual machines.
UsersThe number of users of the application.

Computers

The Computers tab shows information on the computers that have applications in the application family installed.

Field labelDescription
Computer nameThe name of the computer.
VirtualShows if the computer is a virtual machine or not.
Application nameThe name of the application installed on the computer.
OrganizationThe organization node the computer is assigned to.
MetricThe default metric for the application.

Users

The Users tab shows information on the users that use the applications in the application family. The tab is only available if there are users using the applications.

Field labelDescription
Application nameThe name of the application.
NameThe user's name.
Last usedThe date when the application was most recently run.
RemarkThe remark is used for additional information and consists of an abbreviation with one to three capital letters. For more information, see Remarks: Reference.

Processor/Core summary

The Processor/Core summary tab shows information on the computers/datacenters that have applications in the application family installed. The tab is only available if there are computers/datacenters that have the applications installed.

Field labelDescription
NameThe name of the computer/datacenter. The field also shows the relationship between the datacenter and its physical and virtual machines.
TypeShows if the computer/datacenter is a Datacenter or a Physical or Virtual machine.
Application nameThe names of the applications running on the computer/datacenter.
Physical P/CThe number of processors and the number of cores per processor for the physical computer/datacenter.
Virtual P/CThe number of virtual processors and the number of virtual cores per processor.
