Prepare Tableau connector

The Tableau connector retrieves information about subscriptions, users, and user activity. In Tableau Cloud, you are required to create an access token name and generate a token secret, locate the domain and content URL of your instance, and enter these values in Settings when adding the connector.

Prerequisites

An admin user account is required to connect to the Tableau API.

Procedure

  1. Sign in to the Tableau Cloud site with an admin account: https://sso.online.tableau.com/public/idp/SSO

  2. Create a token.

    1. Go to My Account Settings.

    2. In Personal Access Tokens, enter a name for your token and select Create new token.

    3. Copy and save the token name and the generated token secret. They are used when adding the connector.

  3. Locate the domain and content URL for your Tableau instance and save it. They are used when adding the connector.

They are the {domain} and {content URL} parts of the browser URI https://{domain}.online.tableau.com/#/site/{content URL}/user/external ... when signed in to Tableau Cloud.

  4. When adding the connector in Snow Atlas, in Settings, enter the saved values in Token name, Token secret, Domain, and Content URL.

After completing this task, follow the general procedure to Add connectors.

The connector makes API calls to the vendor and retrieves data. For more information, see API calls and Data retrieved by the connector.
