4.3.0 latest

Release date: 2023-10-03

Enhancements

Documentation update for Guided Setup in Snow for ServiceNow Catalog and CMDB integration apps

  • Adjusted the “ServiceNow Catalog Integration Guided Setup” by formatting the existing sections and adding a reference link for additional use cases. Additionally, at the CMDB Guided Setup level, a new section is now available called "Check Table Properties” that provides the changes required in the Software instances table.

Expanded the Software Models table attributes with Allowlisting and Denylisting information

  • Implemented support for Allowlisted and Denylisted Software Models. This addition enhances our system's capabilities to clearly permit allowlisted software models while also prohibiting the denylisted ones, providing greater control over software management. This feature benefits ServiceNow Admins and Procurement teams to check if an application is Allowlisted or Denylisted instantly before they respond to Security incidents or malware.

Feed the lifecycle attributes from Snow License Manager into ServiceNow

  • Integrated the Lifecycle dates into ServiceNow with three new attributes: End of Life, End of Support, and End of Extended Support. The outcome of this introduces lifecycle management to track the assets and help planning to reduce the risk of unexpected downtime and the cost of repairs in Software asset management.

New

  • The used source for reading the compliance calculation was updated for the Snow Atlas component. All the impacted fields were adjusted so that the user will get the correct compliance details once he will request them.

Corrections

  • The ‘Override Read only’ and ‘Read only’ properties from the ‘Software Product Model’ configuration page are not checked by default anymore.

  • The ‘Run as’ default value from the ‘Software Import Job Resume’ was removed because the ‘Run as’ field should be empty as the user assigned against the field may not always exist in the customer environment.

New

  • Updated support links: Support links have been updated to use the new Snow Documentation Portal.

Enhancements

  • vCenters import into vCenter Datacenter: The items formerly imported into vCenter Instance are now imported into vCenter Datacenter. vCenter Datacenter now has Contains::Contained by relations with ESX Servers, replacing the old Managed::Managed by relations that VCenter Instance had with ESX Servers. Data in the vCenter Instance table should be moved to the vCenter Datacenter table. Additionally, old Managed::Managed by relationships can be removed. See other requirements for the required SIM version.

  • Relationships reject by default: Relationships now have Choice Action set to Reject rows that have missing Parent and/or Child data.

Corrections

  • Import Status transform history: The Import Status page now correctly displays the rows as per the user profile timezone configuration.

  • Import Status queue order: The Import Status page now correctly orders the queue with when the files will be processed.

New

  • Concurrent Imports: Moving away from synchronous imports, we now deliver a solution to take advantage of concurrent imports in ServiceNow, which split incoming data into multiple import sets and transform the import sets concurrently to reduce processing time.

  • Guided Setups: Taking advantage of the Guided Setup feature on ServiceNow, we now deliver a way for you to get set up faster than ever. You will have a clear step-by-step setup process of the application, with detailed information and useful comments to explain each feature in the Snow for ServiceNow integration. To support both cases, use of the ServiceNow CMDB Identification and Reconciliation module is now an available option. In this release of Snow for ServiceNow, support for Identification and Reconciliation option is delivered as a feature preview, indicating that limited beta testing has taken place. If you wish to participate in the adaption of the ServiceNow CMDB Identification and Reconciliation engine, please log a ticket on the Snow Support Portal.

  • Snow Software CMDB Integration Features

    • More Complete Asset Data. A standardized approach to naming, asset identification, and data cleansing provides ServiceNow with an accurate representation of the assets within a company structure. Automatic population and maintenance of the CMDB solves time and cost issues associated with manual maintenance of business intelligence, improving data quality and accuracy of the CMDB.
    • Best-in-class Solutions. Software asset management and IT service management are distinct disciplines with different priorities and varying requirements. Building a bridge between them enables each discipline to deliver best in class solutions, while leveraging relevant intelligence from the other.
    • User Satisfaction. Provides ServiceNow with insight by providing the service ticket resolution process with accurate runtime environment information including installed software versions, hardware, and user roles. Service tickets can be resolved more efficiently–in some cases, up to 25% faster–improving user satisfaction.
    • Accurate Information. Adding intelligence like real-time license availability shortens the time to process user requests for software. IT Financial Management (ITFM) can be enriched with software usage information to enable accurate billing to the appropriate business unit.
    • Enriched Resolution. By automatically populating the CMDB with data such as the software version a user is running, a description of the hardware environment the software is running in and the policies governing access, the service desk has enriched ticket data, which minimizes resolution times.
    • Support for ServiceNow CMDB Identification and Reconciliation module The Identification and Reconciliation module in ServiceNow provides a centralized framework for identifying and reconciling data from different data sources. It helps maintain the integrity of a CMDB when multiple data sources, including Snow Software, are used to create and update CI records. For more information, refer to CMDB Identification and Reconciliation on the ServiceNow documentation portal.
    • Concurrent Imports Moving away from synchronous imports, we now deliver a solution to take advantage of concurrent imports in ServiceNow, which split incoming data into multiple import sets and transform the import sets concurrently to reduce processing time. For more information, refer to Concurrent imports on the ServiceNow documentation portal.
    • Guided Setups Taking advantage of the Guided Setup feature on ServiceNow, we now deliver a way for you to get set up faster than ever. You will have a clear step-by-step setup process of the application, with detailed information and useful comments to explain each feature in the Snow for ServiceNow integration.
    • CI class mapping We have improved our CI class mapping feature, allowing for finer tuning of which CI class imported computer should have. You will now find filters for IsServer, IsVirtual, and IsPortable, allowing you to customize the import process to your needs.
