Application groups

In Snow License Manager, the application groups are used in situations where one row of data is not enough to both identify the application and determine its version or edition. For example, the executable file for Adobe Acrobat 7 Standard is identical to the executable file for Adobe Acrobat 7 Professional. Therefore, a registry key value is needed to tell them apart. An application group which includes both the executable file and the registry key is then used for the identification.

Global application groups are provided by the Software Recognition Service (SRS), but you can also create your own local groups.

The global application groups can neither be edited nor deleted. If you want to create a local application group or adjust the rules of a global application group, you must override the assigned software. The SRS definition will then become inactive. However, if your local application group for some reason is removed later on, the SRS application group will be enabled again.
