Cloud application metering
Snow Atlas and Snow License Manager can show information about the usage of cloud applications in your organization. The feature is available for Windows and macOS computers.
The usage is monitored by browser extensions installed on your organization’s computers. Snow Inventory Agents for Windows and macOS can be configured to install the browser extensions and to collect and send the data gathered by the extensions to a Snow Inventory endpoint (Snow Extender or Snow Inventory Server). The endpoint then transfers the data to Snow Atlas and Snow License Manager, respectively.
The browsers and platforms for which the cloud application metering solution is available are listed in Browser extensions.
Security considerations for the solution are discussed in Security considerations.
Cloud application metering for Snow Atlas
In Snow Atlas, the cloud application usage information is made available in SAM Core and SaaS.
The cloud application metering data flow is enabled by default. If you do not want cloud application metering data to be collected from the computers in your organization, follow the instructions in Disable cloud application metering.
The browser extensions are installed on the computers by default by the Windows and macOS agents. You can also choose to deploy the extensions by a management tool or policy. Note that the Apple Safari extension must be installed manually. See Manage browser extensions for instructions on how to install and uninstall the browser extensions.
