Configure the AD Discovery connector

The Active Directory Discovery interface lets you discover users and devices by adding one or more Active Directory domains.

The Snow Integration Connector for AD Discovery is configured in Snow Integration Manager. For more information, see Snow Integration Manager

Set up the Active Directory Discovery​

In Snow Integration Manager, add the Active Directory Discovery connector and configure the settings.

  1. In Name, enter the site name as a unique identifier for your object type.

    note

    If you are migrating your authentication from an existing AD Discovery configuration in Snow Inventory Server, the Name must match the Site name property of your Snow Inventory server configuration.

  2. Enter an LDAP Path to your Active Directory where you want to search for users and devices.

    EXAMPLE
    • LDAP://euse.local

  3. Enter a Username and Password of a user with read access to the Active Directory that you want to use to authenticate the Active Directory.

  4. Optional: If you want to connect to the Active Directory over secure LDAP, select Use SSL.

    Your AD domain must support connection over secure LDAP.

  5. Optional: If you want to inventory devices, select Get Devices.

  6. Optional: If you want to inventory users, select Get Users.

  7. To test the AD discovery setup, select Test connection.

  8. To save your configured changes, select OK.

Aggregate the connector​

Learn how to set up and aggregate the connector.

  1. Before you aggregate your connector to the active directory, set up the Inventory file handling using one of the two options:

    • If this is your first discovery connector (AWS or Azure), it is recommended that you select Save to remote Inventory server and enter the complete URL for the inventory server or the inventory data receiver.

    • If you select Save to local Inventory server:

      1. In Inventory incoming folder, specify the folder where the integration connector will save the inventory files.

      2. In Announcement incoming folder, specify the folder corresponding to the announcement folder within the Snow Inventory server that processes the files.

  2. Navigate to the Connector options tab, and to aggregate the connector:

    1. Select your configured connector instance.

    2. Select Aggregate selected.
