Domain configuration

When Snow Mobile Information Server is installed and configured, the domain that will manage the devices and users must be configured. This chapter describes the configuration in four steps:

  1. Create domain.

  2. Configure domain for Snow Cloud Extender.

  3. Configure user credential enrollment.

  4. Configure mobile inventory for Snow License Manager.

Create domain

  1. In Snow Device Manager System Manager, on the Domains tab, right-click an existing domain and then click Create.

    The New domain wizard appears.

  2. Type a Name, and then click Next.

  3. Leave the Create Domain Administrator check box cleared, and then click Next.

  4. In the Server list, select server to put this domain on, and then click Create.

    The domain is created.

  5. Click OK.

    The New domain wizard closes.

Configure domain for Snow Cloud Extender

The domain for Snow Cloud Extender can be configured by following one of the following procedures:

  • Entering a configuration key in Snow Cloud Extender

  • Configure the domain in System Manager for Snow Device Manager

To install and configure Snow Cloud Extender, see Installation guide for Snow Cloud Extender.

Enter a configuration key in Snow Cloud Extender

  1. In Snow Device Manager, on the Domain admin tab, click Service management .

    The Service management workbench appears.

  2. On the Domain Services page, double-click click the Extender Service.

    The Extender Service dialog box appears.

  3. Click Configure.

  4. Save the configuration file.

  5. Open the configuration file.

    The configuration file contains a configuration key. Copy and paste the key in Snow Cloud Extender when configuring the integration with Snow Server.

Configure the domain in System Manager

  1. In System Manager for Snow Device Manager, on the Domains tab, double-click the created domain.

    The domain opens.

  2. On the Domain menu, click Edit.

    The Domain Settings dialog box appears.

  3. On the Services tab, right-click Device Push, click Add Service, and then click extender.

    The Extender service is added.

  4. Double-click the Extender service.

    The Extender Service dialog box appears.

  5. Click Config to select a configuration file.

    The configuration file will be imported in the next step in Snow Cloud Extender.

  6. Click Apply.

    The domain is now configured for Snow Cloud Extender.

Configure user credential enrollment

To enroll devices by installing the Snow app from App Store or Google Play, the following conditions must be fulfilled:

  • A user directory must be connected using the SCE (described in the previous chapter).

  • The App store enroll must be activated and configured on the domain.

To activate The App store enroll:

  1. In Snow Device Manager System Manager, on the Domains tab, double-click the created domain.

    The domain opens.

  2. On the Domain menu, click Edit.

    The Domain Settings dialog box appears.

  3. On the General tab, select the Appstore Enroll check box and click to clear all other check boxes.

  4. On the Keywords tab, click Add.

    The Add Keyword dialog box appears.

  5. Type the customer email domain, and then click Ok.

    EXAMPLE

    If the email is john.doe@customer.com, type customer.com.

  6. Click Save.

    The domain is now configured for User Credential Enrollment. For more information, see User Guide for the Snow App.

Configure mobile inventory for Snow License Manager

For mobile devices to be visible and inventoried in Snow License Manager, the following conditions must be fulfilled:

  • Snow Mobile Information Server must be installed.

  • A domain must be configured on Snow Mobile Information Server .

  • At least one device must be enrolled on Snow Mobile Information Server.

  • An API user must be created on the domain to allow the Snow Device Manager Connector in the Snow Integration Manager to connect to the domain.

  • The Snow Device Manager Connector must be configured to connect to the Snow Mobile Information Server instance.

  • The Mobiledevice privilege must be added in Snow License Manager.

To create the API user:

  1. In Snow Device Manager System Manager, double-click the new domain on the Domains tab.

    The domain opens.

  2. On the Users tab, right-click Services, and then click Create user.

  3. In the New User dialog box:

    1. Type a Username, Password, Realname and Email. The Email does not have to be a real email address.

    2. To add the role Service, in the Available box, select service and then click <<.

    3. Click Apply.

  4. On the Users tab, verify that the new user is created under services.

Snow Integration Manager can now be configured to connect to the Snow Mobile Information Server instance using the created user name and password.
